Movement becomes a way of meeting – with yourself, with others, and with gravity. Rooted in the principles of contact improvisation, we will explore how sharing weight, listening through touch, and playing with balance can open a field of trust, presence, and authentic connection.
Contact improvisation is a dance form based on physical dialogue. Through simple yet profound principles – such as:
giving and receiving weight,
finding the rolling point of contact,
allowing gravity to guide you
you discover movement as a shared exploration, rather than a performance.
No previous dance experience is required. Curiosity and a willingness to listen with your body are enough.
We will begin with a guided somatic warm-up designed to help you arrive in your body.
Through:
floor work,
spirals,
gentle activation of joints and fascia,
you will be invited to slow down and deepen your sensing.
In the context of a conscious festival like Wibracje, this moment of arrival is essential:
before connecting outward, you ground inward.
Breath, skin, and subtle shifts of weight can become your anchors of awareness.
Gradually, we will move into partner work. Simple exercises will introduce the foundations of contact improvisation:
leaning into shared support,
counterbalance,
transferring weight between bodies.
You will explore:
how to trust gravity instead of resisting it,
how to release unnecessary tension,
how to respond rather than control.
This practice reveals that strength does not come from force, but from alignment and sensitivity.
A key element of the workshop is relational awareness.
Through touch, you will be guided in the practice of listening – not only to physical impulses, but also to boundaries and consent.
Clear communication and mutual respect create a safe space for exploration.
Within this shared field, movement becomes a language beyond words, where subtle shifts can express invitation, pause, playfulness, or depth.
As the practice deepens, structured exercises will gradually open into freer improvisation.
You will be invited to follow your curiosity:
exploring different levels – from floor to standing,
playing with momentum,
discovering moments of lift and suspension.
Sometimes the dance will be dynamic and fluid; at other times it may settle into stillness.
Each encounter is unique – shaped by attention, timing, and trust.
Within the atmosphere of the Wibracje Festival, this workshop offers a grounded and embodied pathway to connection.
It complements meditation, music, and conscious dialogue by bringing awareness into direct physical experience.
Through sharing weight and gravity, you may remember something simple and fundamental:
that you are supported – by the earth and by others.
The workshop will close with a short moment of integration and reflection.
You may leave with a sense of:
openness,
vitality,
deeper connection – not only with others, but also with your own embodied presence.
This is an invitation to explore movement as a conscious practice – playful, attentive, and alive.
Zuzanna’s embodiment journey began at the age of four with dance and has unfolded through martial arts, ballet, yoga, modern dance, and the Axis Syllabus. Deeply inspired by international teachers in contact improvisation and contemporary dance, she integrates movement principles from the Axis Syllabus and the structure of the Underscore into her practice and facilitation.
She is passionate about the interplay between body and mind—a thread she follows through her work in coaching, IT, and dance. Bridging analytical clarity with embodied presence, she continues to explore how movement can inform and transform ways of being.
Zuzanna finds joy and balance in co-creating spaces for dance and connection. She teaches and facilitates contact improvisation, co-organizes the Thailand Contact & Movement Arts Festival and the Warsaw CI Flow Festival, and is the co-creator of contactimprovkohphangan.com, where she hosts immersive contact improvisation journeys at Motion Space on Koh Phangan, Thailand.
