About the lectures

‘On regaining agency’

In a world of excess and growing dependence on external systems, living a simple life becomes an act of courage. During the meeting, I will talk about creating a self-sufficient habitat as a practice of regaining agency – not only in the garden, but in all aspects of life. I will share my own journey and experience of building a demonstration permaculture habitat and how I found my path by giving up ready-made solutions.

I will talk about permaculture as the art of regeneration, about simple living thanks to low-tech solutions available to every budget, about striving for freedom from bills, and about the idea of demonstration educational habitats.

‘Self-sufficiency in practice: creating habitats’

Is it possible to regain greater independence from global systems and at the same time build deeper relationships with nature and people? In this presentation, I will talk about my experience of creating a habitat in practice. I will show how to plan the relationships between the elements of the habitat and the installations, and how designing space is connected to designing relationships with each other.

I will talk about how the practice of building habitats teaches agency and responsibility for one’s own needs. It will be a story about permaculture as the art of designing relationships and about the path from the idea of self-sufficiency to the co-sufficiency of place and landscape.

About the speaker

Marcin Krzeszewski – I am a certified permaculture designer, consultant and teacher. Since 2015, I have been running a self-sufficient settlement near Rzeszów, created out of a need to live closer to nature and be more independent from external systems. I currently live in Lower Silesia, in the Golden Mountains, where I am creating a new permaculture demonstration habitat. Kalpapāda was created in response to my personal health crisis, which initiated a profound life transformation. Today, it is more than just a place for me – it is a way of life based on cooperation with nature and building greater agency in everyday life.

In my work, I show that many solutions can be created independently – without a large budget or complex technologies. I treat permaculture as a way of designing relationships: with nature, space, work and other people. Through workshops, lectures, consultations and social media, I share my experience and inspire others to live more consciously, responsibly and closer to nature.
