About the Lecture:

The lecture focuses on psilocybin mushrooms and their potential therapeutic applications.

In the first part, the most popular species of psilocybin mushrooms will be presented, both native and those found abroad. This will be followed by a discussion of psilocybin and psilocin – their properties, mechanisms of action, and therapeutic potential. Next, we will explore the entourage effect in the context of psilocybin mushrooms. In the final part of the lecture, the latest research will be presented on microdosing psilocybin mushrooms in combination with lion’s mane mushroom as a method to support mental well-being and combat depression.

About the Speaker:

A pharmacist and phytotherapist with 20 years of experience in researching the extraction of active compounds and the biotechnology of mushrooms. He is the author of scientific publications cited over 500 times worldwide.

In 2013, he earned his Ph.D. with distinction at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Medical University of Warsaw, with a dissertation titled “Isolation of Low-Molecular-Weight Metabolites from Submerged Cultivation of Lion’s Mane Mycelium (Hericium erinaceus).” In 2009, he received the Mazovian Doctoral Scholarship awarded by the Marshal’s Office of the Mazovian Voivodeship, funded by the EU (POKL 2007-2013). In 2010, he participated in training workshops under the “Warsaw – Innovation Potential” project, co-financed by the European Social Fund within the Human Capital Operational Program 2007-2013. In 2009 and 2010, he was awarded the Second Degree Team Award for Teaching by the Rector of the Medical University of Warsaw for co-authoring a series of publications on the biosynthesis of fungal polysaccharides with potential biological activity.

Dr. Wojciech Krzyczkowski is a co-author of several publications in international peer-reviewed scientific journals and two patent applications (over 500 citations, h-index: 10). He worked as a pharmacist in a pharmacy for nearly five years, which provided him with in-depth knowledge of the dietary supplement and nutraceutical market as well as patients’ needs. He is also a graduate of the postgraduate program “Herbs in Prevention and Therapy” (Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, 2016).
