The extraction of psychedelic substances from the biosphere became one of the central points of shamanism in the course of its development. The formation of primitive shamanism on Earth seems to be closely linked to altered states of consciousness and substances that induce such states. In this lecture, I will discuss this topic from the perspective of contemporary scientific research and what we already know from newer and older publications.
Biologist, pharmacognosist, herbalist. I work in the herbal and pharmaceutical industry and conduct scientific research in the fields of biology, botany, biochemistry, and tryptamines. I am interested in the distribution of active substances in local ecosystems, phytopharmacology and ethnopharmacology of common flora in lowland Poland and the Amazon rainforest, neurogenesis, the evolutionary role of psychedelic tryptamines in the biosphere, biology and evolution of pathogens, psychedelic research, genomics, and epidemiology. In addition, I am interested in issues from various fields of natural sciences, both exact and at the intersection with philosophy (the origins and evolution of life, theories of consciousness). I am also very interested in virology, a science derived from agrobiology and botany. I am searching for antiviral drugs in the biosphere. I am currently studying genomics and bioinformatics.
