About the lecture:
Plant preparation and processing, and herbal recipes in practical application. In this lecture, I will discuss simple and practical methods for preparing infusions, decoctions and plant extracts to extract the desired active compounds from them. It is often the methods used to process herbal raw materials that determine their activity, inactivity, safety and usefulness. Scientific disciplines such as phytopharmacology and pharmacognosy come to our aid here. I will also demonstrate how to interpret professional herbal prescriptions written in Latin.
About the speaker:
A biologist, pharmacognosist and herbalist, working in the herbal and pharmaceutical industry and conducting research in the fields of biology, botany, biochemistry and tryptamines. Research interests include the distribution of active substances in local ecosystems, phytopharmacology and ethnopharmacology of the flora of the Polish lowlands and the Amazon rainforest, neurogenesis, the evolutionary role of psychedelic tryptamines in the biosphere, as well as the biology and evolution of pathogens, research into psychedelics, genomics and epidemiology.
In addition, he explores issues at the intersection of the natural sciences and philosophy, including the origins and evolution of life and theories of consciousness. Viral biology – a field stemming from agrobiology and botany – and the search for potential antiviral drugs in the biosphere hold a special place among his interests. He is currently expanding his expertise in genomics and bioinformatics.
