Nneka Egbuna is a multidimensional Nigerian artist who combines music, activism, and personal introspection in her work. Her challenging life journey, marked by a childhood under a strict regime in Nigeria, led her to seek artistic expression. She found solace in music and creativity, particularly within the Christian Union at school.At 17, she moved to Germany, which marked the beginning of a newlife, first as an asylum seeker and later turning to music. She formeda hip-hop group before going solo, where she met DJ Farhot, herlong-time collaborator. Their first album, Victim of Truth (2005),gained attention with its blend of soul, hip-hop, and reggae,condemning social injustices. The track “Heartbeat” became a hit,leading to collaborations with Nas and Damian Marley.Nneka continues to explore deep themes like politics, faith, andpersonal trauma in her subsequent albums. After taking a break tofocus on visual arts, she returned in 2023 with a new EP titled Backand Forth. This album is a unique fusion of neo-soul, hip-hop,Afrobeat, and jazz, symbolizing a personal and creative rebirth.Nneka’s work reflects resilience, the search for truth, and the powerof self-love.
