Topic: Body and Mind - How modern science helps in their integration?

Language:

About the workshop:

The workshop will focus on the latest scientific discoveries in the field of psychosomatics. We will discuss why we still separate the mind from the body and how modern science helps in their integration. I will present a fragment of my own method called Nalu – Mindful Movement. This method is based on the latest scientific findings in psychophysiology and allows for a deeper awareness of the body. Nalu combines elements of yoga, mindfulness, and intuitive movement synchronized with breath.

The body image is a multidimensional construct consisting of cognitive, affective, and behavioral components. Dysfunction in any of these components can lead to eating disorders, anxiety disorders, and depression. Numerous data indicate that these disorders are spreading, contributing to their specific globalization, which poses not only a serious medical problem but also a social and economic one.

How can we explain the fact that some individuals drastically restrict their food intake in the face of difficult experiences? What explains the strong predisposition to mass culture’s influence in shaping one’s image at the expense of health, and often even life?

The workshop will take place in the Mind Zone on Friday from 12:00 – 13:30.
