About the workshop:

Shiatsu Workshop – Technique and Energy in Practice

This workshop will introduce participants to the Japanese therapeutic art of Shiatsu, its origins, and its cultural and philosophical foundations. It will demonstrate how, through appropriate physical techniques (correct posture and the use of gravitational force resulting from relaxation), one can achieve not only effective pressure on acupuncture points, but also energy flow and body awareness.

In the first part of the session, we will discuss both the history of Shiatsu and the concept of Qi energy within the Taoist system and Eastern culture. We will then move on to a practical exploration of the basics of Shiatsu techniques for working with sensation and energy, including self-Shiatsu exercises (self-awareness, pressure on selected points) and Shiatsu exercises in pairs (a short sequence with partners taking turns). Bringing a mat and/or blanket will make the session more comfortable.

Shiatsu Evening – the art of giving and receiving touch

Saturday evening at the Eastern Arts Zone will be an opportunity to step into the world of Shiatsu through a simple, soothing experience of touch. During the workshop, you will learn a short sequence based on mindful pressure, body weight, breath and presence, which brings about release, relief and deep relaxation. It is a practice in which giving is just as important as receiving – calm, natural and rooted in the quality of unhurried closeness. You can come with someone or practise with someone you meet there. No experience is needed – all you need is an open mind for an evening where touch becomes a simple path to relief, calm and deep letting go. The workshop will be led by Olga together with the Bodylogy Cooperative.
